Morales apprenticed with G S Garcia in Elko, NV before moving to Pendleton, Oregon and opening a bit and spur department for Hamley & Co in 1910. He developed a unique and distinctive line of California style bits and spurs before opening his own shop in Portland in 1920. Seven years later Morales moved to Los Angeles where he continued to work until his death in 1935. Considered one of the most prominent, recognizable and influential of the “Elko” school, his bits and spurs were carried by S D Myres of Texas, and Blake Miller of Cheyenne, Wyoming in addition to others.
